January 1

The human proclivity for marking time makes it necessary to give special notice to this day.  The significance of it is obvious...it is the day representing new beginnings, second chances, and fresh starts. But does nature support such a practice?  Do we see any evidence in nature that we need a fresh start?

Animals have no sense of time.
For most animals, every day is a fresh start. They do not hold grudges, do not fret about what happened yesterday, and for the most part, do not plan for the future.  Granted, squirrels will hoard nuts to eat through the winter, but most animals just trust that their daily needs are going to be met.  Most animals live in the NOW, not the past or future.

This serves most animals very well.  The only animals I know of who become neurotic and display illogical behavior are the ones that live with humans.

On the other hand, the perpetual nature of the seasons gives us the message that everything that passess away will become new again.  Even though spring is over, we know that eventually, after a long winter, it will come around again.  In a sense, we will get a fresh start.

After the celebration of Yule at the Winter Solstice, our days begin to get longer, and more and more light spills into our world.  The fact that the animals live in the NOW means that they can't comprehend that winter will not last forever.  We can, however, look forward to brighter times.

This seems like a contradictory message.  Live in the NOW, but look for a brighter tomorrow.  How can we do both?

Our inner guidance system always lets us know if we are on the right track.  If we have a negative-feeling emotion, such as sadness, anger, frustration, confusion, irritation, hate, or fear, we can say to ourelves, "Good.  My guidance system is working.  It is letting me know that I am not in alignment with my Source.  I am acting or believing contrary to what is right for me.  I now have a chance to change that."  Then you reach for a better-feeling thought, the best feeling thought that you can find from where you are right now.  Then, as you are waiting for that brighter tomorrow, for you know it will come, you can look for evidence in the NOW that things are getting better, for they will.  And when you find some small evidence that things are getting better, this is proof for you that Law of Attraction is working for you.  For you will attract only that for which you are a vibrational match.  If you want things to get better, you have to create a better feeling within yourself, and then things that match this better feeling will come to you.  Always look in the NOW for evidence that things are getting better, and you will find it.  This will create the brigher tomorrow.

For example, let's say you have diabetes.  You have neuropathy (pain) in your fingers and toes.  You are using the Emotional Freedom Technique to overcome this pain and numbness.  Every day, you adjust your energy system with statements like, "Even though I have had pain in my fingers and toes in the past, my fingers and toes are feeling more and more normal every day."  Then you look for evidence that this is occurring.  One day, you check in with your pain level and it seems like it's a little better, but you're not sure.  Your pain used to be a 8 on a scale of 1 to 10, and you think it might have gone down to a 7.  You aren't sure, however, because it's such a small difference.  Just go on and believe anyway that it's better.  This is your evidence that things are getting better in the NOW.  This in turn creates for you a brighter tomorrow, because you have changed your vibration.  You are now a vibrational match for less pain.  So tomorrow, you will have less pain.  And when you check in on your pain tomorrow and see that it really is less, this creates an even better vibration so that it gets better every day.  One day it will be completely gone.

Like the animals, do not live in the past.  Live in the NOW.  WAITING for things to get better is an acknowledgement that they are NOT better in the now.  Don't live for the future when things will be brighter.  Recognize all the ways in the NOW that they are already getting better.  Realize that the wheel is always turning, and nothing stays the same, so you are already in the process of experiencing that bright future that you want. You are in control of this.  You are NOT a powerless victim of your physical reality.

There is a power inside of each human against which no earthly force is of the slightest consequence.

You are everything.   If you don't know you are everything, you are still everything.   Welcome that and rest in it.
