Procedure

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  Grease a cookie sheet with butter or butter spray.

When making this recipe, I pop the broccoli into my Black & Decker Steamer to cook lightly while I make the crust.  Combine the flour, spices and 1 cup of the shredded cheese, toss together.  Then cut in the butter, and add the cold water and toss together until the flour mixture starts to stick together in a ball.  You may have to vary the amount of water because different flours require more or less.  Make a ball and divide it into three sections to make three tarts.

Roll out dough on floured board.  Place 5 or 6 broccoli florets in the middle of the dough along with 1/2 cup of shredded cheese, dust with garlic powder and basil, or other spices you like.  Place this filling on half the dough and fold the other half over and crimp the edges together.  Place on baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.

I then remove the tarts from the baking pan and put each in it's serving dish or plate to cool.  When you cut into them, they will be quite hot, so I usually cut the tarts in half to let the steam out.

Then, to pour over the tart, I often make Simply Organic's Alfredo Sauce Mix.  I pour the sauce over the tart and clip some chives on top for a garnish.

My kids love these, and there are a lot of variations you can do.  I make one with chili beans, onions, and cheese inside and chili powder and monterey jack cheese in the crust.  Or, one with chunks of potatoes, pizza sauce and mozzarella inside.  You are only limited by your
imagination.
