Peppermint

Even though peppermint tastes good in candy and ice cream, it's health benefits go much farther.  A study in 2007 showed that patients who took peppermint oil capsules showed a 75% improvement in their irritable bowel syndrome symptoms.  This may be because menthol, one of the chief components of peppermint, blocks calcium channels and relaxes the smooth muscle of the intestines.  Peppermint oil has been shown to stop the growht of tumors in the pancreas, breast and liver, and protect against the growth of cancer in the colon, skin and lungs.  It also contains substances which reduce inflammation and can be helpful in treating asthmatics. It is relatively easy to grow in the garden or in pots.

These values can be found in the document "Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity of Selected Foods - 2007" USDA
