The Sacredness of Negative Events

The universe is always seeking balance. or homeostasis.  There is a resting place, where everything is as it should be.  There is a balance of light and dark, cold and hot, in and out, sweet and sour, heavy and light, stress and relaxation.  The two opposites balance each other.  This is as it should be.  One cannot not have light without dark.  Both are necessary and good.

Most people do not like negative events.  They are uncomfortable. or undesirable for some reason.  For this reason, people look at them as negative, bad things, but they are not.  They are the dark side of light.  They are necessary and fulfill a useful function in the universe.

So if you are sick, I know it's unpleasant and uncomfortable, but it is not a bad thing.  Being sick is how your body is trying to get your attention so it can return you to balance or homeostasis.  If you listen to your body and do what it is leading you to do, you will return to balance.

Negative events are to be looked at as helpful learning experiences.  They are the universe speaking to you, trying to get your attention to tell you something helpful.  You need to listen.  I recently was without a job for several months.  I wouldn't figure out why, since I was using the power of my thoughts and feelings to create prosperity in my life.  I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.  And then, after struggling for several months, my husband and I decided to move to a different state.  There I was able to easily find a job, and we liked living in that part of the country much better.  But we never would have moved unless we had experienced several months of being out of work.  The universe had to get our attention and direct us there by whatever means it could.  Then we were blesed and happy.

Everything that happens is a sacred event.  Every blade of grass is sacred.  Every raindrop is sacred.  Every bird and tree is sacred.  But by the same token, so is every car wreck, every F you get on a test, and every  tear you shed for every sorrow.   There is no such thing as evil,  only unpleasant events you need to learn a lesson from to make you  a better person.

This knowledge helps you because when something happens to you that makes you feel sad, frustrated, angry, or just plain out of sorts,  this is a signal to you that you are to learn a lesson from this event.  This is how our inner guidance system shows us what is the right thing to do in every situation.

For instance, let's say you shoplifted something.  Initially you might feel elated that you got away with the crime.  However, soon you get caught and are in jail.  This makes you feel sad, frustrated, angry or fearful.   The first thing to learn from this is, because you are having a negative emotion about that event, it is an event you should try to avoid in the future.  But also, when you have negative emotions about something it is a clear indication that you are to learn a lesson from that event.  The event itself is not bad, even though it is unpleasant and you want to avoid it.  Decide what you are to learn from the experience and transform it into a positive event.  Don't blame anyone else,  forgive yourself and others,  take responsibility for the event, and you will receive something positive as a result of having that experience.

Let experience be your teacher.  See our page Experience is the teacher of all wisdom

Allow the universe to return you to balance.

This symbol, called the Yin-Yang, is the Asian symbol for balance or harmony.
It includes the idea that opposites are both part of the whole, and that both
extremes of experience are necessary for a successful and healthy life.

Everything is a sacred experience.   Look at everything you do during the day, from brushing your teeth to doing your homework to helping with chores to listening to music, to being nice to your brothers and sisters as being a sacred event.  It all has meaning and it is all important.  By the same token, stubbing your toe, getting bit by an ant, getting a cold, and having your bike stolen are also sacred events.  Decide what lesson you are to learn from them, and benefit from mit.
